Video Talk: Anima Anandkumar and the Meaning of Data in the Age of AI

In the age of artificial intelligence, data is everything, and as a principal scientist at Amazon Web, Anima Anandkumar is an expert in its exploration and advancement.

Anima came to speak at Particle’s 2018 Design Week Portland event, Empathy, Bots, and the Future of AI, to discuss the role of machine learning in building artificial intelligence that is intuitive and meaningful.

Here, she considers key questions on building the next generation of AI: What decisions go into building a machine learning algorithm? What does learning mean in the context of AI?

I am excited to build AI at scale that solved a wide range of practical problems. The existential ‘threat’ of AI being peddled by pundits is not helping us move the industry forward.
